K-Electric Alerts Karachi Residents Ahead of Heavy Rainfall

K-Electric has released a safety advisory in anticipation of heavy rainfall across Karachi and nearby regions, emphasizing that the situation is under constant surveillance while field teams remain on high alert. Parts of Karachi experienced intense rain showers on Thursday afternoon.

In a public notice, the utility company urged residents to exercise extreme caution when handling electrical devices during periods of rain and strong winds, highlighting that unsafe usage could lead to severe accidents. Special emphasis was placed on avoiding the operation of electrical appliances such as water pumps in rainy conditions or in areas with standing water due to the heightened risk of electrocution.

Citizens were also advised to keep a safe distance from damaged electrical wires, power installations, and overhead cables used for television or internet services. K-Electric additionally warned about the dangers posed by illegal power connections, commonly referred to as kundas, which can result in fatal accidents.

For emergencies, the company has provided a helpline number, 118, along with additional support accessible through the K-Electric Live mobile application, WhatsApp service, and official social media channels. As a precaution, power supply may be temporarily interrupted in certain locations during the rainfall. Electricity will be restored once weather conditions improve and field teams confirm the safety of the network.
