In a significant development aimed at enhancing public health services, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Programme under the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department. This initiative is designed to provide free and prompt treatment to patients suffering from heart diseases across the province.

The program has been officially launched following the chief minister’s approval, with services now accessible at a total of 24 cardiac centers, including nine public and 15 private hospitals. Eligible residents of Punjab can benefit from these free treatments, marking a crucial step in addressing cardiac health challenges.

Notably, the first successful open-heart surgery under this initiative was conducted at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology, setting a promising precedent. To support the program, an annual budget exceeding Rs3 billion has been allocated, with the goal of eliminating lengthy waiting lists for open-heart surgeries within six months.

To facilitate patient access and provide assistance, a dedicated helpline (0800-09009) has been established. Additionally, patients can reach out via phone at 042-99066000 from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 am and 11:00 pm. For further convenience, guidance is also available through WhatsApp at 0333-6756390, ensuring broad accessibility for those seeking information and support.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering advanced healthcare services to thousands of cardiac patients. She highlighted that the Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Programme will be instrumental in guaranteeing free, timely, and high-quality treatment throughout Punjab.
