Earlier this week, reports surfaced claiming that at least two of Shetty’s SUVs displayed police-style markings, which are typically reserved for official law enforcement use under India’s Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. These claims raised concerns about potential misuse of authority.
In response, Shetty’s spokesperson clarified that the stickers were applied as part of temporary security measures following a firing incident outside the director’s residence in February. The spokesperson explained that the police had implemented heightened security protocols immediately after the incident, including placing identification stickers on the vehicles during the initial phase. These stickers have since been removed.
Meanwhile, Shetty remains under police protection, with two officers currently assigned to ensure his safety as the authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. The statement expressed gratitude towards the Mumbai Police for their ongoing support and cooperation during this challenging time.
In a significant development, the controversy stems from an incident on February 1, when shots were reportedly fired near Shetty’s home. The Bishnoi gang allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack, prompting the filmmaker to request enhanced security from Mumbai Police due to concerns for his personal safety and that of his team.
