Thomas Markle, father of Meghan Markle, has announced he has found love once again, confirming a relationship with Rio Canedo, a 46-year-old Filipino nurse who is 35 years younger than him. This revelation comes months after Thomas underwent a critical leg amputation and has been recuperating in the Philippines.
In a heartfelt statement, Markle expressed his surprise and happiness, saying he never anticipated experiencing joy and companionship at his age. He reflected on years of feeling neglected and sorrowful but now embraces life with renewed enthusiasm. He described himself as “blessed and beyond happy” to have Rio by his side, highlighting the comfort and attentive care she provides during his ongoing recovery.
At 81 years old, Thomas Markle spent four days in intensive care and several weeks hospitalized before transferring to a rehabilitation facility. It was at this center in the Philippines where he met Rio, who works as a nurse there. Despite battling pneumonia, he conveyed a sense of well-being, supported by the kindness and cheerful atmosphere created by the nursing staff, whom he affectionately nicknamed the “munchkins.”
Anticipating criticism from the public and Meghan’s supporters, Thomas addressed potential negative comments with resolve. He emphasized that he is unconcerned by hurtful opinions and wants to share the message that it is never too late to find peace and love. He stated, “Life is for living. There’s nothing more important in life than love.”
