Robert Pattinson Opens Up About Difficult Journey to Become Batman

Robert Pattinson, who took on the role of the iconic DC superhero in the 2022 film The Batman, has shared insights into the difficulties he faced in landing the part. Directed by Matt Reeves, the action-noir movie featured Pattinson alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, and Colin Farrell, who portrayed Catwoman, the Riddler, and the Penguin, respectively.

Now 39 years old, Pattinson is set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming sequel, scheduled for release in 2027. The actor recently revealed that securing the role was far from straightforward and involved years of persistence to convince the producers.

During an interview on the French show Quotidien, Pattinson explained that he had been attending meetings well before the role was officially available. He aimed to get on director Matt Reeves’ radar, even before the script was written. Pattinson recalled approaching the producer with the idea of taking on a small part that others were reluctant to accept.

In a significant development, The Batman Part II is currently slated for an October 2, 2026 release, though recent industry delays suggest a 2027 debut. The sequel will bring back familiar faces including Pattinson, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright. Meanwhile, speculation continues about new cast members, with names like Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson rumored to join, though no official confirmation has been made by the studio.
