Alan Ritchson has shared new insights into the moments before his widely circulated street fight, revealing that he feared for the safety of his children as the situation escalated. The actor was caught on video punching a neighbor during an altercation in Brentwood, Tennessee, but he maintains the incident followed aggressive and repeated provocation.
Ritchson recounted that he was riding bikes with his two sons when a man identified as Ronnie Taylor suddenly stepped directly in front of his motorcycle, forcing him to brake abruptly. This sudden stop caused his bike to flip, resulting in injuries. The situation intensified when Taylor approached him in a confrontational manner, prompting Ritchson to push him away to maintain distance.
He also alleged that Taylor appeared intoxicated, noting the smell of alcohol on his breath. In the heat of the moment, Ritchson admitted to telling Taylor that he “should have run him over,” although he was trying to leave the scene before the altercation turned physical. However, Taylor reportedly blocked his path again and shoved him off the bike, which led Ritchson to fear for both his own safety and that of his children.
“I completely now feared for both my and my kids’ safety,” Ritchson said, explaining that the punches caught on video were defensive moves to protect himself and ensure they could leave safely. Meanwhile, the other man involved disputed Ritchson’s account, telling police that he approached the actor due to concerns about dangerous riding and claimed Ritchson was the first to become physical.
Witness statements have been mixed, with at least one supporting Ritchson’s version that the neighbor initiated the confrontation. After reviewing the incident, police concluded that Ritchson acted in self-defense and confirmed that no criminal charges would be filed.
