Zendaya addressed circulating rumors regarding Robert Pattinson’s involvement in the upcoming film Dune: Part Three during a recent interview promoting her latest project, The Drama. She clarified that she was not responsible for introducing Pattinson to the cast.
While director Denis Villeneuve did consult Zendaya about Pattinson’s personality as part of a routine background check, she emphasized that this was merely a formality. Zendaya spoke positively about Pattinson, describing him as kind and easy to collaborate with, but made it clear that Villeneuve had already made the casting decision prior to seeking her opinion. Her feedback was intended only as reassurance rather than a decisive factor.
The rumors originated from a lighthearted comment made by Pattinson himself, who joked about asking Zendaya to help him join the franchise while they were working together. This playful remark led many to assume she had a significant role in his casting, which was not the case. In fact, Pattinson’s selection as the character Scytale was already in progress before their conversation.
Dune: Part Three will see the return of familiar faces such as Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani, alongside new characters and evolving storylines following the events of the previous film. As the concluding chapter of the trilogy, the movie is anticipated to expand on the scale and critical acclaim of its predecessors, continuing Villeneuve’s signature visually immersive storytelling.
Despite the frequent speculation that accompanies casting news, Zendaya’s statement confirms that Pattinson’s role in Dune: Part Three was secured well before any behind-the-scenes jokes fueled public assumptions.
