Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir has firmly stated that Pakistan will not tolerate any acts of violence triggered by incidents occurring in other countries. This strong message was conveyed during a significant gathering with the ulema of the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community held in Rawalpindi, where discussions centered on national security challenges and the influential role religious scholars can play in fostering social harmony.

Field Marshal Munir, who simultaneously serves as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), emphasized the importance of religious leaders in promoting unity, tolerance, and national cohesion. He highlighted their pivotal position in countering misinformation, sectarian propaganda, and external attempts aimed at destabilizing Pakistan’s internal peace. The meeting underscored how the ulema’s engagement is vital in guiding public sentiment away from violence and towards constructive dialogue.

In his address, the CDF also briefed the attendees on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions. He pointed out that the country remains committed to proactive diplomacy to ensure peace and stability in the neighborhood. However, he reiterated that exploiting religious emotions to incite violence within Pakistan is unacceptable and will be dealt with firmly.

“Violence in Pakistan, on the basis of incidents occurring in another country, will not be tolerated,” Field Marshal Munir declared unequivocally. This statement reflects the military’s resolve to maintain law and order and prevent external events from sparking unrest domestically. The ulema present at the meeting echoed this sentiment, expressing their strong condemnation of any violence carried out in the name of religion. They voiced their full support for the country’s law enforcement agencies in their efforts to uphold peace and security.

Furthermore, the CDF touched upon Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, a targeted military campaign against terrorist elements. He stressed that Pakistan will not allow Afghan territory to be used as a launching pad for terrorist activities against its citizens. The army chief reiterated the armed forces’ commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and their infrastructure through precise, intelligence-driven operations, regardless of where these threats originate.

In a related development, Field Marshal Munir called upon the Afghan Taliban to take responsibility in preventing their soil from being exploited for terrorism directed at Pakistan. This appeal highlights the ongoing security concerns along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the need for cooperative measures to curb cross-border militancy.

Overall, the meeting served as a platform to reinforce the shared goal of peace, stability, and national unity. It also demonstrated the military leadership’s recognition of the ulema’s influential role in shaping public opinion and countering extremist narratives. By fostering collaboration between the defence forces and religious scholars, Pakistan aims to build a resilient society that rejects violence and embraces harmony.
