Iranian President Commends Military, Urges National Unity Amid Rising Regional Tensions

In a show of strong support for Iran’s defense establishment, President Masoud Pezeshkian publicly praised the nation’s armed forces on Monday, emphasizing the critical role they play in securing the country’s future. Speaking from Tehran, Pezeshkian highlighted the resilience and bravery of military personnel, underscoring that the nation’s stability and prosperity hinge on the collective strength and unity of its people alongside their defenders.

Expressing his admiration, the president metaphorically “kissed the hands and arms” of the armed forces, a gesture symbolizing deep respect and gratitude for their sacrifices. His message, shared on the social media platform X, conveyed a clear call for solidarity among Iranians, stressing that the path to a peaceful and secure tomorrow lies in unwavering public support for those safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

This declaration comes at a time when Iran finds itself at the center of escalating geopolitical tensions, particularly with the United States and Israel. The Gulf region remains on edge amid fears of a potential military confrontation, as Tehran faces increasing pressure and threats from external powers. Against this backdrop, the Iranian leadership is rallying its citizens to remain united and resilient in the face of mounting challenges.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf firmly dismissed recent claims suggesting that Tehran had engaged in negotiations with Washington. His statement directly contradicted assertions made by former US President Donald Trump, who had indicated that talks with Iran were underway. Qalibaf categorically denied any form of communication with the United States, labeling such reports as misinformation aimed at manipulating global perceptions.

He further accused certain media outlets of attempting to artificially influence global oil markets and financial systems by spreading false narratives about diplomatic engagement. Qalibaf emphasized that the Iranian populace demands a robust and decisive response to any acts of aggression, reflecting the government’s hardline stance against foreign pressure. He reiterated that the Iranian government stands united with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the people in resisting external coercion.

Earlier statements from Tehran’s Foreign Ministry echoed this firm position, acknowledging that mechanisms exist to de-escalate tensions but insisting that the United States must take the initiative to open meaningful dialogue. The ministry stressed that Iran did not instigate the current conflict, placing responsibility for the heightened hostilities squarely on Washington’s shoulders.

Iranian officials also suggested that President Trump’s recent announcement of a five-day pause on planned strikes against Iran’s power infrastructure was a strategic move designed to buy time rather than a genuine step toward peace. They described the US threats as deceptive and part of a broader tactic to delay decisive action while preparing for potential military operations.

State media and government representatives in Tehran have consistently denied any direct or indirect negotiations with American officials, asserting that the US is exploiting the situation to manipulate energy prices and gain strategic advantage. This ongoing denial highlights the deep mistrust between the two nations and the complex dynamics shaping the current crisis.

As tensions persist, Iran’s leadership continues to emphasize national unity and the importance of standing firmly behind the armed forces. The president’s message serves as a reminder of the country’s determination to face external threats with resilience and solidarity, signaling that Tehran is prepared to confront the challenges ahead with unwavering resolve.
