    DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar Dies After Year-Long Battle Following Mustafa Amir Raid Injuries

    In a tragic development, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ahsan Zulfiqar succumbed to injuries he sustained more than a year ago during a police operation linked to the high-profile Mustafa Amir murder investigation. DSP Ahsan passed away at Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi, where he had been receiving medical care since January 6, 2025. His death marks a somber moment for law enforcement officials who had been closely following the case.

    The fatal injuries were inflicted during a raid at the residence of the prime suspect, Armaghan, located in Karachi’s upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) neighborhood. During the operation, the accused opened fire with advanced weaponry, critically wounding DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar and Constable Muhammad Iqbal. The police had launched the raid in an effort to recover Mustafa Amir, a 23-year-old man who had been abducted and later found murdered under suspicious circumstances.

    Mustafa Amir’s case has drawn significant public attention due to its brutal nature and the involvement of close acquaintances. law enforcement, Armaghan and his accomplice Shiraz were responsible for the kidnapping and subsequent murder. The suspects allegedly transported Mustafa’s body in the trunk of a vehicle and set it ablaze in the Hub area of Balochistan, attempting to destroy evidence of the crime.

    Last month, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) formally charged Armaghan and Shiraz with multiple offenses related to the murder. Both defendants have pleaded not guilty, and the court has begun summoning prosecution witnesses to testify as part of the ongoing trial proceedings. The prosecution has also submitted forensic evidence obtained from Armaghan’s electronic devices, including his laptop, mobile phone, USB drives, and CDs, which reportedly contain incriminating material related to murder, money laundering, and an illegal call center operation.

    Authorities have identified over 40 witnesses who are expected to provide testimony against the accused. The prosecution’s case highlights the horrific treatment Mustafa Amir endured, with allegations that Armaghan lured him to his home and subjected him to severe torture before the fatal incident. The chilling details presented in the challan state that the suspects transported Mustafa to Balochistan and deliberately set his car on fire, resulting in his death.

    Meanwhile, police officials have yet to announce the funeral arrangements for DSP Ahsan Zulfiqar, whose sacrifice has underscored the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel in tackling violent crime. His passing is a stark reminder of the risks involved in confronting criminal elements and the ongoing struggle to bring justice in complex cases such as this one.
