Today, Pakistan marks Pakistan Day with nationwide celebrations that reflect a deep commitment to the ideals envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. This day holds immense historical significance as it commemorates the Lahore Resolution, passed on March 23, 1940, which laid the foundation for the creation of a separate homeland for Muslims in the Indian subcontinent. Across the country, citizens and officials alike have come together to honor this pivotal moment that shaped Pakistan’s destiny.

The day began with a traditional 31-gun salute in Islamabad, the federal capital, while provincial capitals observed a 21-gun salute, symbolizing respect and remembrance for the sacrifices made by the nation’s forefathers. Following the early morning Fajr prayers, special supplications were held in mosques nationwide, invoking blessings for Pakistan’s continued progress, prosperity, and unity. These spiritual observances underscore the nation’s collective hope for a brighter future grounded in faith and resilience.

In addition to religious ceremonies, formal events took place at prominent national landmarks. The Change of Guards ceremonies were conducted at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi and Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum in Lahore, paying homage to the country’s founding father and its revered poet-philosopher. These ceremonies serve as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy left by those who envisioned Pakistan as a sovereign and just state.

On this solemn occasion, the Chief of Defence Staff, along with the Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Pakistan on behalf of the Armed Forces. They highlighted the significance of March 23, 1940, as a defining milestone that crystallized the collective aspirations of Muslims in the subcontinent. The military leadership reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s security and sovereignty, emphasizing unity between the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and the resilient citizenry in confronting all threats.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the martyrs and national heroes whose sacrifices paved the way for Pakistan’s independence and ongoing stability. In their messages, both leaders reflected on Pakistan’s journey since independence, acknowledging the early challenges faced by the young nation. They praised the progress achieved through steadfast determination, including the strengthening of institutions, enhancement of defense capabilities, and persistent efforts to combat terrorism.

The President underscored Pakistan’s firm stance against any external forces attempting to undermine its security, declaring that no foreign-based groups would be permitted to operate against the country. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to steer the economy toward sustainable growth despite numerous obstacles. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that lasting peace in South Asia hinges on a just resolution of this longstanding issue.

As Pakistan reflects on the historic Lahore Resolution and its enduring impact, the nation stands united in honoring its past while looking ahead with determination. The celebrations today not only commemorate a significant chapter in Pakistan’s history but also renew the collective pledge to uphold the principles of justice, sovereignty, and welfare that continue to guide the country’s path forward.
