On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephone conversation with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, marking a warm exchange of Eid-ul-Fitr greetings between the two leaders. This cordial interaction highlighted the strong diplomatic ties and mutual respect shared by Pakistan and Uzbekistan, reflecting the significance of cultural and religious celebrations in fostering goodwill between nations.

During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his sincere wishes to President Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan, expressing hope for peace, prosperity, and continued progress in their country. In response, President Mirziyoyev warmly reciprocated these sentiments, conveying his best regards to the prime minister and the citizens of Pakistan. Such exchanges underscore the longstanding friendship and cooperation that have been nurtured between the two countries over the years.

The conversation also provided an opportunity for both leaders to reflect on the fruitful outcomes of President Mirziyoyev’s recent visit to Pakistan last month. They expressed satisfaction with the progress made on various agreements and initiatives launched during that visit, emphasizing that sustained efforts to implement these decisions would further deepen bilateral relations. The leaders agreed that ongoing collaboration in areas such as trade, infrastructure, and cultural exchange remains vital for enhancing connectivity and mutual development.

Turning to broader regional matters, the discussion shifted towards the current situation in Iran and the Gulf region, areas experiencing heightened tensions and instability. Both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Mirziyoyev voiced their concerns over the escalating conflicts, stressing the urgent need for de-escalation to prevent further deterioration. They highlighted that maintaining peace and security in these strategically important regions is crucial not only for the countries directly involved but also for the wider international community.

In this context, the two leaders underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the most effective means to resolve disputes and ease tensions. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting peaceful initiatives and encouraged all parties to pursue negotiations in good faith. This shared stance reflects Pakistan and Uzbekistan’s broader foreign policy objectives aimed at promoting stability, cooperation, and harmony across Central and South Asia.

Overall, the telephone conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Mirziyoyev not only celebrated a significant religious festival but also reinforced the strategic partnership between the two nations. Their discussion on regional challenges and mutual aspirations for peace highlights the proactive role both countries are playing in fostering a stable and prosperous neighborhood.
