Security Team at KP Chief Minister’s House Overhauled to Boost Confidentiality

The security arrangements at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s House have undergone a significant overhaul, with the entire 27-member Special Branch team being replaced. This move, implemented on Wednesday, reflects a strategic effort to tighten security protocols and address concerns about information leaks within the premises.

In addition to the Special Branch personnel, approximately 14 members of the Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) who were previously assigned to safeguard the CM House have also been withdrawn. They have been substituted with a fresh contingent of 39 security staff, signaling a considerable expansion and reinforcement of the protective detail. This reshuffle aims to create a more robust security environment around the provincial chief minister’s residence.

Officials involved in the process have indicated that this is just the initial phase of a broader security restructuring. Further personnel changes are anticipated in the upcoming days as part of a comprehensive plan to enhance the overall effectiveness of the security system. The decision stems from growing apprehensions that the long-standing deployment of the previous Special Branch team had led to sensitive internal information being leaked to unauthorized parties.

Concerns over the continuous flow of confidential details outside the CM House have raised alarm among provincial authorities. Such breaches not only compromise the safety of the chief minister but also undermine administrative integrity. Consequently, the selection process for the new security staff has been conducted with heightened scrutiny, ensuring that only highly trustworthy and reliable individuals are entrusted with this critical responsibility.

The primary objective behind these changes is to fortify the security framework surrounding the Chief Minister’s residence, thereby safeguarding sensitive information and improving administrative control. By introducing new personnel and increasing the number of deployed officers, the provincial government aims to prevent any further leaks and maintain strict confidentiality regarding internal affairs.

This security revamp reflects the provincial administration’s commitment to protecting its leadership and maintaining operational secrecy amid a complex political and security landscape. It also underscores the importance of adapting security measures to evolving threats and challenges faced by government officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
