In a recent directive, the Government of Pakistan has announced the reinstatement of standard working hours for all federal government offices now that the holy month of Ramadan has concluded. This decision marks a return to the usual schedule, signaling the end of the shortened hours that were observed during Ramadan to accommodate fasting employees.

The Establishment Division has confirmed that the revised office timings are effective immediately and will continue until any further instructions are issued. This move is part of the government’s effort to normalize administrative functions and ensure smooth operations across all departments and ministries.

the official notification, government offices that follow a five-day workweek will operate from Monday through Friday, starting at 8:00 am and concluding at 4:00 pm. Within this timeframe, employees will observe a combined prayer and lunch break from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm, allowing for a brief respite during the middle of the day. This schedule is designed to balance productivity with the well-being of staff members.

For offices that maintain a six-day workweek, the working hours will be from Monday to Saturday, running from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm each day. These offices will also observe the same half-hour break from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. The continuation of the six-day schedule in certain departments reflects the diverse operational needs across various government sectors.

The Establishment Division has disseminated this notification widely, ensuring that all federal ministries, divisions, provincial chief secretaries, and other relevant government institutions are informed and prepared to implement the restored timings without delay. This comprehensive communication underscores the importance of uniformity in government operations nationwide.

Overall, this adjustment signifies a return to normalcy in the public sector following the spiritual and cultural observances of Ramadan. It also highlights the government’s commitment to maintaining an efficient and well-regulated work environment as the country moves forward into the post-Ramadan period.
