On Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a significant telephone conversation with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, focusing on the evolving dynamics of the regional situation. The dialogue took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. Both leaders took the opportunity to exchange heartfelt greetings on the occasion of Eid, extending their sincere wishes for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the people in their respective countries as well as the broader Muslim Ummah.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s strong solidarity with the people of Oman, particularly in light of the recent tragic incidents that resulted in the loss of precious lives and injuries across various parts of the Sultanate. He underscored the critical importance of preserving peace and stability in the region, emphasizing that constructive dialogue remains the most effective path forward to address challenges and prevent further unrest.

The two leaders also took time to reaffirm their mutual commitment to enhancing the longstanding fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Oman. This relationship, built on shared values and historical bonds, continues to be a cornerstone of cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his invitation to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to visit Pakistan officially at a time convenient for him, highlighting the importance of high-level exchanges in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

In response, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq graciously extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Oman, signaling a willingness to deepen ties and explore new avenues for collaboration. Both leaders agreed that such visits would serve as a platform to discuss broader regional issues and foster mutual understanding, contributing positively to peace and stability in the wider region.

This telephone call between the Prime Minister and the Sultan of Oman comes at a time when regional geopolitics are increasingly complex, and the need for dialogue and cooperation among neighboring countries has never been more pressing. The exchange reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to maintain strong diplomatic relations with Gulf countries, which are vital partners in trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
