Nadra Alerts Public to Fraudulent Website Mimicking Official Visa Portal

The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has issued a critical warning to the public regarding a counterfeit website that is impersonating its official visa services portal. This fraudulent platform is designed to deceive users and potentially steal sensitive personal information or payments. Nadra emphasized that this fake site is not connected to the organisation in any way and urged citizens to exercise caution when accessing online services related to visas.

The deceptive website in question operates under the URL https://www.visa.nadragov.online, which closely resembles Nadra’s legitimate visa portal but is entirely unauthorised. Such imitation tactics are often employed by cybercriminals to mislead unsuspecting users into submitting confidential data, which can then be exploited for fraudulent activities. Nadra made it clear that the only genuine visa portal managed by the authority is https://visa.nadra.gov.pk, and users should strictly use this official site for all visa-related applications and transactions.

In addition to this warning, Nadra reminded citizens to always verify that any government-related websites they visit end with the official domain suffix “.gov.pk.” This is a crucial step in distinguishing authentic government portals from fraudulent ones. The authority’s advisory comes amid growing concerns over cyber fraud and identity theft, which have become increasingly sophisticated and prevalent in recent years.

Meanwhile, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) has also taken measures to combat these cyber threats. Over the past month, NCERT successfully blocked nine fake websites that were designed to mimic Nadra’s services and trick users into divulging personal information. This proactive approach highlights the ongoing efforts by government agencies to safeguard citizens from online scams and protect their digital identities.

NCERT’s advisory further cautions individuals against sharing personal details without proper verification and warns against clicking on suspicious links received via emails or text messages. Such phishing attempts are common tactics used by cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to private information. Both Nadra and NCERT continue to monitor the situation closely and are committed to taking swift action against any misleading or malicious cyber activities targeting the public.

As digital services become more integral to everyday life, the importance of vigilance and cybersecurity awareness cannot be overstated. Citizens are encouraged to remain alert, verify website authenticity before submitting any data, and report any suspicious online activity to the relevant authorities. These combined efforts are vital in ensuring the security and trustworthiness of Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.
