Arab and Islamic Foreign Ministers Unite in Riyadh to Condemn Iranian Aggression

A significant gathering of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers took place in Riyadh, bringing together representatives from key regional countries to address the escalating tensions caused by Iran’s recent military actions. This high-level meeting was marked by a strong, unified condemnation of Tehran’s ballistic missile and drone strikes, which have raised serious concerns across the Middle East. The assembly included foreign ministers from Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, and Syria, reflecting a broad coalition determined to respond firmly to the growing instability.

During the discussions, the ministers highlighted the gravity of Iran’s attacks targeting civilian areas and vital infrastructure, emphasizing that such actions are unacceptable and violate established international norms. The joint communiqué issued at the conclusion of the meeting explicitly condemned the missile and drone assaults on Gulf states, as well as on Jordan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, labeling these attacks as unjustifiable provocations that undermine regional peace. The ministers underscored the urgent need for Iran to immediately halt all hostile activities and to comply fully with international legal frameworks.

In addition to calling for an end to the aggression, the foreign ministers stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of nations and the right to self-defense as enshrined in the United Nations Charter. They urged Tehran to embrace principles of good neighborliness, reduce regional tensions, and refrain from meddling in the internal affairs of other countries. The communiqué also demanded that Iran cease its support, funding, and arming of various militias operating across the region, which have contributed to ongoing conflicts and instability.

Another critical aspect of the meeting was the emphasis on protecting vital global maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb. These waterways are crucial for international trade and energy supplies, and the ministers warned against any threats that could disrupt navigation and endanger global economic stability. The participants called for strict adherence to relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions aimed at maintaining peace and security in these strategic areas.

Furthermore, the ministers reaffirmed their support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability, condemning Israeli actions described in the communiqué as aggressive and expansionist. This stance reflects the complex dynamics of the region, where multiple conflicts and rivalries intersect, necessitating coordinated diplomatic efforts. The meeting concluded with a commitment from all participants to continue regular consultations and enhanced cooperation to promote peace, security, and stability throughout the Middle East.

This Riyadh meeting represents a significant diplomatic effort by Arab and Islamic nations to present a united front against destabilizing forces in the region. It also signals a collective determination to hold Iran accountable for actions perceived as threats to regional harmony and international law. As tensions remain high, the outcomes of this gathering could shape future diplomatic and security policies aimed at preventing further escalation and fostering long-term stability in the Middle East.
