US Announces $10 Million Reward for Intelligence on Iran’s Top Leadership

In a significant move on Friday, the United States State Department declared a $10 million reward for credible information leading to the identification and capture of Iran’s newly appointed supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, along with nine other high-ranking Iranian officials. This announcement underscores Washington’s intensified efforts to counter what it describes as Tehran’s global terrorist operations orchestrated by its elite forces.

The list of individuals targeted by the US includes prominent figures such as Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and the Minister of Intelligence and Security, Esmail Khatib. These officials are believed to hold key roles within the Islamic Republic’s power structure, particularly in directing and managing the activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which the US government accuses of planning and executing acts of terrorism worldwide.

The State Department emphasized that these ten individuals are responsible for commanding various branches of the IRGC, an organization that has long been designated by the US as a terrorist entity. The IRGC’s influence extends beyond Iran’s borders, with alleged involvement in destabilizing activities across the Middle East and beyond. By offering this reward, the US aims to disrupt the leadership and operational capabilities of these figures.

To facilitate the flow of information, the State Department encouraged informants to submit tips securely through encrypted communication platforms such as Tor or Signal. It also highlighted that those providing valuable intelligence might be eligible not only for the monetary reward but also for relocation assistance, ensuring their safety in the process. This approach reflects a broader strategy to incentivize insiders or knowledgeable individuals to come forward despite the risks involved.

This announcement comes amid heightened tensions following the assassination of Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba Khamenei’s father, who was killed in a bombing on February 28. His death marked a critical escalation at the onset of the ongoing US-Israeli campaign aimed at curbing Iran’s regional influence and nuclear ambitions. The killing of such a high-profile figure has intensified the geopolitical struggle, with the US doubling down on efforts to dismantle Iran’s leadership network.

It is worth noting that the US State Department’s “Rewards for Justice” program has a long history of offering financial incentives for information that leads to the arrest or prosecution of individuals deemed threats to US national security. This latest reward announcement fits within that framework and signals a continued commitment to countering Iran’s perceived malign activities through intelligence gathering and targeted actions.
