In preparation for the significant religious observance on the 21st of Ramazan, which commemorates the Day of Imam Ali (as), Karachi Police have developed an extensive and detailed security strategy to ensure the safety of participants and the general public. This annual procession attracts large crowds, making it imperative for law enforcement to implement robust measures to maintain peace and order throughout the city.

The Karachi Police Chief has announced that more than 5,200 police officers and personnel will be actively engaged in managing security across various parts of the metropolis. This deployment includes a diverse team comprising 19 Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs), several Superintendents of Police (SPs), 53 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 755 Non-Gazetted Officers (NGOs), and 4,244 rank-and-file police staff. Their combined efforts are aimed at providing a secure environment for the procession and the surrounding areas.

Special attention has been given to the procession routes, including all entry and exit points, as well as the return paths taken by participants. These areas will be closely monitored through multiple layers of security protocols such as route sealing to prevent unauthorized access, snap checks to detect any suspicious items or individuals, and continuous surveillance via closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras strategically installed along the procession path. Additionally, snipers will be positioned on high-rise buildings to provide an elevated vantage point, enhancing the overall security coverage.

To swiftly respond to any unforeseen incidents or emergencies, Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will be stationed at critical locations throughout the city. These teams are trained to act promptly and efficiently in case of any disturbances or threats. Furthermore, police personnel will be deployed at key hospitals to ensure the safety of patients and medical staff, as well as to facilitate quick medical assistance if required during the event.

The Karachi Police Chief has emphasized the importance of maintaining calm and order during the procession and has called upon the citizens to actively cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior or activities immediately by contacting the dedicated helpline, “Madadgar 15.” This community involvement is crucial for preempting potential security risks and ensuring a peaceful observance of this important religious occasion.

Overall, the comprehensive security plan reflects the commitment of Karachi Police to uphold public safety during one of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar. With meticulous planning and coordinated efforts, authorities aim to provide a secure atmosphere where devotees can participate in the 21st Ramazan procession with confidence and peace of mind.
