US CENTCOM Reports Over 5,000 Iranian Targets Struck in Initial 10 Days of Strikes

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has provided a comprehensive update on its ongoing military campaign against Iran, revealing that over 5,000 targets have been engaged and struck within the first ten days of operations. This large-scale offensive marks one of the most intense periods of military action in the region in recent years, reflecting a strategic effort to significantly degrade Iran’s military capabilities.

Among the most notable impacts of the strikes is the reported destruction or severe damage inflicted on more than 50 vessels belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. These losses represent a substantial blow to Iran’s naval power, potentially limiting its ability to project force in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters. The focus on maritime targets underscores the importance of controlling key waterways and disrupting Iran’s naval operations.

The US military has emphasized that the campaign is carefully prioritizing locations deemed to pose an immediate threat to regional stability and American interests. This targeted approach aims to neutralize critical command and control centers, intelligence hubs, and air defense systems that could be used to coordinate hostile actions or launch attacks. By focusing on these strategic nodes, CENTCOM seeks to weaken Iran’s operational command structure and reduce its capacity to retaliate effectively.

The air campaign has involved a diverse array of aircraft, showcasing the full spectrum of US airpower. Strategic bombers such as the B-1 Lancer, B-2 Spirit, and B-52 Stratofortress have been deployed to deliver precision strikes on high-value targets deep within Iranian territory. These bombers, known for their long-range capabilities and payload capacity, have played a crucial role in the sustained pressure applied during the initial phase of the operation.

In addition to the bombers, a variety of fighter jets have been actively engaged in the strikes. Aircraft including the F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F/A-18 Super Hornet, F-22 Raptor, and the advanced F-35 Lightning II have been utilized to conduct both air-to-ground attacks and provide air superiority. The deployment of such a broad range of fighters highlights the complexity and scale of the operation, ensuring flexibility and adaptability across different combat scenarios.

Further enhancing the campaign’s effectiveness, CENTCOM has incorporated specialized platforms such as the A-10 Thunderbolt II, renowned for its close air support capabilities, and the EA-18G Growler, which specializes in electronic warfare and jamming enemy radar systems. The use of the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) has also been reported, providing rapid and precise rocket strikes against key ground targets.

Unmanned aerial vehicles have played a vital role in both reconnaissance and attack missions. The MQ-9 Reaper drones have been extensively used for surveillance and targeted strikes, offering real-time intelligence and the ability to engage targets with minimal risk to personnel. Complementing these efforts, reconnaissance aircraft such as the U-2 Dragon Lady and RC-135 Rivet Joint have conducted intelligence-gathering flights, supplying critical information to guide ongoing operations.

Maritime surveillance has been supported by the P-8 Poseidon aircraft, which is instrumental in monitoring naval movements and securing sea lanes. This multi-faceted approach combining air, sea, and unmanned assets reflects the comprehensive nature of the US military’s strategy against Iran.

The primary targets identified by CENTCOM include command and control centers, headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), intelligence facilities, and air defense installations. The strikes have also focused on ballistic missile launch sites, naval vessels including submarines, anti-ship missile batteries, military communication networks, and production facilities involved in manufacturing ballistic missiles and drones. These efforts aim to dismantle Iran’s ability to wage asymmetric warfare and limit its missile threat.

As the operation continues, the US military remains committed to applying pressure on critical Iranian military infrastructure while minimizing civilian casualties and collateral damage. The unfolding campaign signals a significant escalation in US-Iran tensions, with far-reaching implications for regional security and international diplomacy.
