Pakistan Condemns India at UN Security Council Over Afghan and Regional Issues

During a recent session of the United Nations Security Council focused on the evolving security landscape in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, delivered a forceful rebuttal against India’s role in the region. Ahmad accused New Delhi of backing militant groups and deliberately spreading misinformation to undermine regional stability. His remarks came in direct response to statements made by Indian and Afghan representatives during the meeting.

Highlighting Pakistan’s recent counterterrorism operations targeting militant infrastructure within Afghan territory, Ahmad emphasized that these efforts have significantly disrupted India’s so-called “investment” in terrorist networks operating in Afghanistan. He pointed out that India’s attempts to nurture and sustain these groups are now being thwarted by Pakistan’s precise and effective actions, which have dismantled key terrorist camps and support bases.

Expanding on his criticism, the Pakistani envoy accused India of repeatedly breaching international law and violating the fundamental principles enshrined in the UN Charter. He alleged that New Delhi’s policies amount to state-sponsored repression and contribute to destabilizing activities across South Asia. Ahmad also drew attention to India’s ongoing human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as acts of state terrorism aimed at marginalizing minority communities and suppressing dissent.

Furthermore, Ahmad condemned India for allegedly employing disinformation campaigns and promoting hate as part of its broader state strategy. He warned that such tactics not only exacerbate regional tensions but also undermine efforts toward peace and cooperation. The Pakistani diplomat also raised concerns about India’s attempts to manipulate transboundary water resources, accusing it of weaponizing water to inflict harm on Pakistan’s population, thereby threatening the livelihoods of millions.

The Security Council meeting provided a platform for member states to exchange views on the complex security challenges facing Afghanistan and the wider region. Pakistan’s strong stance underscored its commitment to combating terrorism and promoting stability, while simultaneously calling out what it perceives as India’s destabilizing influence. These developments come at a critical time when regional cooperation is essential to address the ongoing threats and humanitarian issues in Afghanistan.
