In a tragic incident on Monday, a police officer lost his life after being ambushed by unidentified gunmen near Gandawah in the Jhal Magsi district of Balochistan. The victim, Havaldar Syed Yaqoob Shah, was reportedly on his way back to his native village Kotrah after completing his official duties. He was riding his motorcycle when the assailants opened fire at a location close to Goth Mir Jat on Noorani Road, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Gandawah City police station.
The attack was swift and brutal, with the officer being shot dead instantly at the scene. Following the shooting, the perpetrators fled, taking with them both the officer’s motorcycle and his service weapon. On March 5, 2025, an operation in Harnai District targeted a known hideout of Khwarij militants. Security personnel engaged in a fierce firefight, ultimately killing twelve militants. Similarly, another operation in Basima District led to the deaths of three terrorists after a prolonged exchange of gunfire. Authorities also recovered a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the deceased militants, who were involved in numerous acts of terrorism across Balochistan.
