Sarah J. Maas Announces Release Dates for ACOTAR Books 6 and 7, Ending Years of Anticipation

Renowned fantasy romance author Sarah J. Maas has officially confirmed the arrival of two new installments in her immensely popular A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series, bringing an end to years of eager anticipation among her global fanbase. This announcement came during her recent appearance on Alex Cooper’s widely listened-to podcast, Call Her Daddy, where Maas shared exciting details about the upcoming books.

During the interview, Maas revealed that the sixth book in the ACOTAR saga is scheduled for release on October 27, with a seventh novel set to follow shortly after on January 12 of the next year. This news marks the first significant update since the publication of A Court of Silver Flames in 2021, the latest entry in the beloved series that has captivated readers with its blend of fantasy, romance, and complex characters.

Maas explained that the story she has been working on expanded far beyond her initial expectations. She described the narrative as “big, really, really big,” indicating the depth and scope of the forthcoming installments. The new storyline is structured into four parts: the first will be released as ACOTAR book 6, while the second and third parts will be combined into the seventh book. The fourth section is planned to be written at a later date, suggesting that the series will continue to evolve beyond these upcoming releases.

This revelation follows months of intense speculation and excitement within the ACOTAR community. Back in July, Maas posted a cryptic message on Instagram hinting that the draft of her next novel was complete, which sparked widespread discussion and enthusiasm across social media platforms, particularly on BookTok. Alex Cooper humorously noted during the podcast that Maas’s Instagram post “quite literally lit the internet on fire,” as fans eagerly tried to interpret symbols and clues related to the next book.

Since its debut in 2015, the ACOTAR series has grown to include five novels: A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight, and A Court of Silver Flames. While Maas confirmed the release dates for the upcoming books, she has yet to disclose the official title of book 6 or reveal which character’s perspective will dominate the narrative. Fans have long speculated that Elain Archeron, the youngest of the Archeron sisters, might take center stage next, following the previous focus on her sisters Feyre and Nesta.

Maas has previously hinted at exploring Elain’s point of view, mentioning that she drew inspiration from her own gardening experiences while writing the fifth book. This personal touch adds an intriguing layer to the character development and suggests a fresh narrative direction for the series.

Looking ahead, Maas also teased the possibility of a crossover between her ACOTAR universe and her other popular series, Crescent City. Such a crossover would undoubtedly thrill fans of both series, opening new avenues for storytelling within her richly imagined worlds.

For now, the confirmation of ACOTAR book 6’s release date has reignited enthusiasm among readers worldwide, offering a much-anticipated timeline nearly five years after the last major installment. As the release dates approach, fans eagerly await more details about the plot and characters that will continue to bring Maas’s fantastical universe to life.
