Kuwait Quickly Restores Power Lines Damaged by Drone Debris Amid Ongoing Repairs

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy in Kuwait has successfully restored the high-voltage overhead power lines located along the Sixth Ring Road, which were recently damaged by debris from intercepted drones. This prompt repair work was crucial to prevent any prolonged disruption in the capital’s power supply, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to maintaining energy infrastructure resilience in the face of emerging security challenges.

Meanwhile, technical teams remain actively engaged in addressing similar damage caused by drone shrapnel to additional high-voltage transmission lines situated in the southern region of Kuwait. These lines were also temporarily taken out of service following the attacks. Despite these setbacks, officials have emphasized that the national electricity grid continues to operate in a stable manner, ensuring uninterrupted power delivery to consumers across the country.

In a related incident, a minor fire broke out at the West Doha power station after drone debris struck fuel tanks at the facility. Emergency response teams quickly contained the blaze, and repair crews have been dispatched to restore the affected section. Importantly, electricity generation at the station has not been significantly impacted, and production has proceeded as usual, underscoring the robustness of Kuwait’s energy infrastructure and emergency preparedness.

Turning to water production, maintenance activities at the country’s desalination plants are progressing the annual schedule. Consumption levels remain closely aligned with production capacity, ensuring a steady supply of potable water. Any slight shortfalls that arise during the ongoing maintenance are being effectively managed through the utilization of Kuwait’s strategic water reserves, which serve as a buffer to maintain supply continuity until all maintenance work is finalized.

It is worth recalling that on March 3, 2026, the Ministry had confirmed that two overhead power transmission lines in southern Kuwait were temporarily disabled due to drone debris. The official spokesperson, Engineer Fatima Hayat, highlighted that these incidents are being addressed with urgency to minimize any impact on the country’s energy infrastructure. The ministry’s swift response and ongoing repair efforts demonstrate Kuwait’s dedication to safeguarding critical utilities amid evolving security threats.

As the situation develops, authorities continue to monitor the security environment closely while ensuring that essential services such as electricity and water remain reliable for residents and businesses alike. The combination of rapid technical response and strategic resource management reflects Kuwait’s proactive approach to infrastructure resilience in an increasingly complex regional context.
