Pak Army Foils Cross-Border Attack, Kills Afghan Taliban Commander Near Torkham

In a significant security development near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, Pakistani military forces successfully repelled an infiltration attempt by Afghan Taliban militants close to the Torkham crossing in Khyber District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation, conducted under the banner of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq (Righteous Fury), resulted in the elimination of a prominent Afghan Taliban commander named Qahraman, along with several of his associates. This commander was reportedly a resident of Jalalabad city in Afghanistan, a known hub for militant activity.

The Pakistan Army’s swift and decisive response prevented the militants, who were also affiliated with Fitna al Khawarij (FAK), from breaching the border. Security officials highlighted that the troops engaged the insurgents with effective retaliatory fire, successfully neutralizing the threat before it could escalate. This operation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Pakistani forces in securing the porous border areas, which have long been exploited by various militant groups to launch cross-border attacks.

Further details reveal that the Afghan Taliban suffered considerable casualties during the confrontation, reflecting the intensity and preparedness of the Pakistani military’s defense measures. The elimination of Qahraman, a key figure in the militant hierarchy, is expected to disrupt the operational capabilities of the insurgents in the region. Pakistani officials have emphasized that such targeted actions are crucial in dismantling the networks that facilitate terrorism and instability along the border.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army continues its comprehensive counterterrorism campaign against not only the Afghan Taliban but also other extremist factions such as Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan. These operations are part of a broader strategy to eliminate militant sanctuaries and prevent the recurrence of violence in border districts. Recent military efforts have included the destruction of militant hideouts at over 50 locations, employing heavy weaponry to ensure thorough clearance.

The sectors targeted in these operations span a wide geographical area, including Qila Saifullah, Chaman, Sambaza, Ghudwana, Jani, and Ghaznali. Security forces have reported significant human and material losses inflicted on the militants, which is expected to weaken their capacity to regroup and launch future attacks. These sustained military actions demonstrate Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining border security and combating terrorism in collaboration with regional and international partners.

It is worth noting that the volatile security situation in the border regions has been a longstanding concern, with militant groups frequently attempting to exploit the rugged terrain and limited surveillance. The recent success near Torkham serves as a reminder of the persistent threat posed by these groups and the importance of vigilant and proactive defense measures. The Pakistan Army’s ongoing operations under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq reflect a determined effort to restore stability and protect the sovereignty of the nation against cross-border insurgency.
