Iran Claims Over 650 US Troops Killed Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

In the wake of escalating hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran, Tehran has announced that it has inflicted significant damage on American military personnel stationed throughout the Middle East. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has publicly declared that its operations have resulted in at least 650 US soldiers being either killed or wounded during a series of retaliatory attacks. This announcement comes amid a backdrop of rising tensions and frequent exchanges of fire across the region.

Recent reports from Arab media outlets highlighted a drone strike targeting a US military installation near Baghdad International Airport, underscoring the expanding reach of Iranian-backed operations. Simultaneously, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted two cruise missiles launched south of Riyadh, demonstrating the widening geographic scope of these confrontations. These developments have intensified concerns about the potential for a broader regional conflict.

The IRGC spokesperson elaborated on the scale of the damage inflicted on US forces, emphasizing that the initial 48 hours of their counteroffensive saw substantial human and material losses for the American military. Among the most notable claims was the repeated targeting of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters located in Bahrain. the Iranian statement, missile and drone strikes on this strategic base resulted in approximately 160 US personnel being killed or injured, marking a significant blow to American military presence in the Gulf.

Further allegations from the IRGC included damage to a US military support vessel and an intense missile barrage against the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. The Iranian forces reportedly launched four cruise missiles at the carrier, which subsequently withdrew from the area, heading toward the Indian Ocean. These claims, however, have not been independently verified by US officials, who have remained largely silent on the specifics of these incidents.

Meanwhile, the United States military has maintained that it has delivered a powerful counterstrike, asserting that it has “severely degraded” Iran’s air defense capabilities. US forces claim to have destroyed hundreds of ballistic missiles, launchers, and drones belonging to Iran, aiming to curb further Iranian aggression. Despite these assertions, the ongoing conflict has spilled over into Lebanon and other parts of the region, causing widespread instability.

The repercussions of this escalating conflict have reverberated beyond the battlefield, unsettling global markets and driving oil prices sharply higher. The Gulf region, a critical artery for global energy supplies, has become increasingly volatile, leaving tens of thousands of residents and foreign nationals stranded with limited options for safe passage. As the situation continues to evolve, the international community watches closely, wary of the potential for a larger confrontation that could engulf the Middle East.
