Khawaja Asif Criticizes Netanyahu’s Iran Strike as Distraction from Gaza Crisis

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent military action against Iran, describing it as a deliberate attempt to divert international attention away from the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Speaking from Islamabad, Asif emphasized that the timing and nature of the attack appear calculated to shift the global narrative, thereby allowing Israel to continue its operations in Gaza and the West Bank without facing widespread scrutiny.

In a detailed statement shared on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Khawaja Asif highlighted how the world’s media outlets have rapidly redirected their focus towards the conflict between Israel and Iran. This sudden shift, he argued, conveniently overshadows the ongoing violence and suffering endured by Palestinians in Gaza, where the situation has deteriorated into what many describe as one of the most severe humanitarian disasters in recent memory. The Defense Minister underscored that this media diversion benefits Netanyahu by providing a cover under which alleged atrocities can proceed with minimal international interference.

Elaborating further, Khawaja Asif accused Netanyahu of pursuing personal and political ambitions that have had devastating consequences not only for Palestine but for the broader Middle East region. He warned that these ambitions have escalated tensions and contributed to a deepening humanitarian catastrophe, marked by widespread displacement, loss of life, and destruction of infrastructure. The Defense Minister’s remarks reflect Pakistan’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and its condemnation of actions perceived as undermining peace and stability in the region.

It is worth noting that the conflict in Gaza and the West Bank has drawn global condemnation and calls for ceasefire from various international actors. However, the recent escalation involving Iran has complicated diplomatic efforts, as regional rivalries intensify and the risk of broader conflict looms. Khawaja Asif’s comments come at a critical juncture, urging the international community to remain vigilant and not allow the focus on Iran to eclipse the urgent need to address the suffering of Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to advocate for a peaceful resolution based on international law and respect for the rights of all parties involved. The Defense Minister’s public statements serve as a reminder of the interconnected nature of Middle Eastern conflicts and the importance of sustained global attention on Gaza, despite emerging geopolitical distractions.
