The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has released an official update concerning the recent follow-up eye examination of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). This evaluation followed the administration of a second intraocular injection aimed at treating the leader’s vision impairment. A specialized medical board, comprising some of the country’s leading ophthalmologists, conducted a thorough assessment to gauge the effectiveness of the treatment.

The examination process included advanced diagnostic procedures such as fundoscopy and optical coherence tomography (OCT), both critical in evaluating the internal structures of the eye and the retina’s health. The medical team, led by Dr. Nadeem Qureshi and Dr. Muhammad Arif Khan, meticulously reviewed the results to determine the progress made since the initial treatment.

the statement issued by PIMS, the findings revealed a marked improvement in the PTI founder’s eyesight. The medical board emphasized that the second intraocular injection had contributed significantly to this positive development. They described the current state of the leader’s vision as satisfactory, indicating that the treatment is on the right track and yielding encouraging results.

Furthermore, the board outlined a detailed plan for ongoing care, including additional treatment protocols and monitoring to ensure the continued recovery of the patient’s vision. This approach underscores the commitment of the medical professionals involved to provide comprehensive and sustained care tailored to the patient’s needs.

In a related effort to monitor the health of the PTI founder, a joint medical team from PIMS and Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital recently visited Adiala Jail to perform a follow-up checkup. This team included retinal specialist Dr. Nadeem Qureshi along with ophthalmologists Dr. Arif and Dr. Osal from PIMS. Equipped with state-of-the-art medical instruments, the team conducted the necessary examinations on-site, ensuring that the patient received expert care despite the challenging environment.

The medical professionals provided guidance on further treatment steps and collaborated closely with the jail hospital staff, who assisted throughout the process. After completing the thorough evaluation, the team returned to their respective institutions, confident that the patient’s condition was being managed effectively with the resources available.

This medical update highlights the critical role of specialized eye care in managing complex vision issues and reflects the dedication of Pakistan’s healthcare institutions in supporting high-profile patients. The ongoing collaboration between PIMS and Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital demonstrates a coordinated effort to deliver expert ophthalmic care even in non-traditional settings, ensuring that treatment continuity is maintained under all circumstances.
