Security forces successfully eliminated nine militants, including four prominent commanders, during intelligence-driven operations targeting militant groups in North Waziristan. The operations, conducted in the Palangzai, Nadeem Kot, and Kot Khizri areas, resulted in the destruction of several militant hideouts and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition from the deceased militants.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both commended the security forces for their effective actions. President Zardari highlighted that the elimination of these militants showcased the professionalism and courage of the forces, emphasizing that all conspiracies by foreign sponsors and local collaborators of militants would be foiled. He reaffirmed that operations under the Azm-i-Istehkam initiative, aimed at eradicating terrorism, would continue until the threat was completely eliminated from the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the officers and personnel involved, stating that their success reflected Pakistan’s firm commitment to eradicating terrorism. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the security forces in their ongoing efforts to establish lasting peace and reiterated the government’s resolve to prevent any attempts to disrupt stability and peace nationwide.
In a separate incident in Karak, unidentified gunmen attacked near the New Karappa area along the district boundary, killing SHO Daud Khan of Banda Daud Shah police station and his gunman during a routine patrol. A passerby was also injured in the attack. Karak District Police Officer Imran Khan confirmed the police personnel were ambushed and said a search operation is underway to apprehend the assailants.
The funeral prayers for SHO Daud Khan and his gunman were held with attendance from senior officials including the Kohat DIG, the deputy commissioner, and the district police officer.
