Ata Tarar Details Significant Taliban Losses in Balochistan and KP Military Operations

Islamabad, March 3, 2026: Federal Information Minister Ata Tarar provided a comprehensive update on the ongoing counterterrorism campaign, Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, which targets Afghan Taliban militants entrenched in the border regions of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He highlighted the recent military engagements that took place overnight, emphasizing the resilience and effectiveness of Pakistani security forces in thwarting multiple coordinated attacks launched by the insurgents.

Minister Tarar revealed that the Taliban militants attempted to breach Pakistani defenses at sixteen distinct locations across Northern Balochistan, specifically in the districts of Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, and Chaman. These areas have long been hotspots for militant activity due to their strategic proximity to the Afghan border. Alongside these ground assaults, the Taliban also executed fire raids targeting Pakistani troops at twenty-five separate points, aiming to weaken the military’s hold in the region. Despite the intensity and scale of these attacks, the Pakistani forces successfully repelled every offensive, showcasing their tactical preparedness and operational coordination.

The fierce confrontations resulted in the deaths of 27 Taliban fighters, with numerous others sustaining injuries. However, the Pakistani side also endured losses; one soldier from the Frontier Corps Balochistan North was martyred while valiantly defending the country’s territorial integrity. Additionally, five soldiers were wounded during these engagements, underscoring the high stakes and dangers faced by security personnel on the front lines.

Turning to developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ata Tarar reported that the Taliban launched a ground assault at one location and conducted fire raids at twelve others. Unlike in Balochistan, Pakistani troops in KP managed to repel these attacks without suffering any casualties, reflecting the growing strength and vigilance of security forces in the province. The operations in KP were particularly intense, leading to the elimination of 40 Taliban militants during the overnight clashes.

Security forces have not yet concluded their efforts; follow-up clearance and surveillance operations are ongoing to ensure the complete neutralization of militant threats and to secure the affected areas. The military remains on high alert, maintaining a robust presence to prevent any further incursions or attacks.

Minister Ata Tarar commended the courage and professionalism exhibited by Pakistani troops throughout these challenging operations. He stated, “Our armed forces continue to defend the motherland with unwavering bravery and skill. The successful repulsion of all enemy attacks is a testament to their dedication and readiness.” He assured that more detailed information regarding the progress and outcomes of Operation Ghazab Lil Haq would be shared later today, as military teams persist in their clearance missions and intelligence gathering activities.
