Pakistani Security Official Refutes Claims of Imminent US-Israeli Threat

ISLAMABAD: On Monday, a senior security official in Pakistan firmly rejected circulating rumors suggesting that the country could be the next target of military action by the United States and Israel. Describing these speculations as baseless and misleading, the official labeled them as the work of “agents of chaos” aiming to sow discord and panic. This statement was issued amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, where the US and Israel recently coordinated airstrikes against Iranian positions for the second time within eight months.

The official elaborated that Pakistan’s situation is fundamentally different from Iran’s, highlighting Pakistan’s deep integration into the international community and its robust self-defense capabilities. Unlike Iran, which faces significant isolation and sanctions, Pakistan maintains a diverse network of diplomatic and economic relationships across the globe. This distinction, the official argued, makes any direct comparison between the two countries inappropriate and misleading.

These remarks came as tensions in the Middle East intensified following Iran’s retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli territory and US military bases in neighboring countries. Such developments have raised concerns about a broader regional conflict potentially engulfing other nations. Speculation has grown that Pakistan, given its nuclear arsenal and strategic location, might also become embroiled in this turmoil. However, the official dismissed these fears, emphasizing that Pakistan’s foreign policy and military posture are uniquely calibrated to avoid such entanglements.

He stressed that Pakistan pursues a balanced and pragmatic approach in its international relations, maintaining cordial and cooperative ties with key global players. This includes defense partnerships with Saudi Arabia, significant economic engagement with the United States, and a working relationship with Iran, with which Pakistan shares a long border and limited but stable trade connections. This multi-faceted diplomacy is designed to shield Pakistan from regional shocks and ensure continued economic and energy security.

Furthermore, the official underscored that Pakistan’s foreign policy is rooted in principles of mutual respect and trust, avoiding alignment with any particular bloc or alliance that could compromise its sovereignty or stability. This hedging strategy allows Pakistan to navigate complex geopolitical dynamics, balancing its relations with Washington, Tehran, and Riyadh effectively. The official concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability, emphasizing that alarmist narratives serve no constructive purpose and only undermine national confidence.

In summary, while the Middle East remains a volatile region with ongoing conflicts, Pakistan’s leadership remains confident in the country’s ability to maintain its security and diplomatic equilibrium. The official’s statement aims to reassure the public and international observers alike that Pakistan is not on the brink of becoming a target in the current US-Israeli-Iranian tensions, and that the nation continues to prioritize engagement and cooperation for the welfare of its people.
