LAHORE: The Lahore High Court was informed on Monday that Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, has been supplied with daily-use items during her detention in jail.
Assistant Advocate General Punjab Farrukh Khan Lodhi, representing the provincial government, detailed the items provided to Aleema, which included a bedsheet, blanket, shoes, six suits, a black bag, towel, face wash, toothbrush, skincare kit, and a shawl. This information was presented alongside a report submitted on behalf of the Punjab home secretary during the hearing of a petition requesting medical facilities and permission for meetings with Aleema while in custody.
Aleema Khan was taken into custody by Lahore police on September 20. Subsequently, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz issued a 30-day detention order against her and PTI’s Muhammad Aamir under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
During the proceedings, Aleema’s legal representatives sought the court’s approval to authorize meetings with her. The court disposed of the petition related to the provision of facilities and instructed the Punjab home secretary to decide on the request for meeting permissions in accordance with legal provisions.
Lawyers Suleman Raja, Maqsood Butter, Rana Mudassar, and others appeared on behalf of Aleema Khan.
In a related matter, the court also addressed a petition concerning Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan, who has reportedly been detained for nine days. The petition stated that Uzma had been denied access to her lawyers and family members, and had not received medical care while in jail.
The petition sought court directives to allow Uzma Khan to meet with her legal counsel and family, as well as to ensure she receives necessary medical treatment during her detention.
