President Zardari Establishes Committee to Investigate PIFD Management Concerns

President Asif Ali Zardari has taken decisive action by forming a specialized committee to thoroughly investigate the reported administrative shortcomings and management issues at the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD). This move reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring proper governance and transparency within this prominent educational institution.

The newly constituted committee has been entrusted with conducting an extensive visitation and review of the institute’s operations, focusing particularly on the alleged irregularities surrounding the appointment of the acting vice chancellor. The President’s Secretariat issued an official notification outlining the committee’s mandate, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive inquiry into the administrative processes at PIFD.

Leading this investigative body will be the chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), who will oversee the committee’s activities. Alongside the HEC chairman, the committee will include the HEC executive director and a designated representative from the President’s Secretariat. The structure of the committee allows for the inclusion of additional members if the need arises, ensuring that the inquiry benefits from a wide range of expertise and perspectives.

This development follows concerns raised by the chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training, who brought to light various alleged lapses in the management of PIFD. The formation of this committee is a direct response to those concerns, highlighting the government’s resolve to address and rectify any administrative deficiencies within the institute.

Upon completion of its investigation, the committee is expected to compile a detailed report outlining its findings and recommendations. This report will be submitted to the chancellor of PIFD, who will then consider the proposed measures to improve governance and accountability. The initiative aims to restore confidence in the institute’s administration and ensure that it operates in a transparent and efficient manner, safeguarding the interests of students and stakeholders alike.
