Security forces eliminated eight terrorists affiliated with the India-backed Fitna-al Khawarij group during an intelligence-driven operation in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday. The operation resulted in the destruction of the militants’ hideouts and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and other equipment.
Notably, the terrorists attempted to use a mosque as a shield to avoid security forces. However, the forces took careful measures to preserve the sanctity of the mosque while targeting the militants.
In a significant development, this operation follows recent engagements in Balochistan where security forces killed 19 terrorists linked to India-backed Fitna-al Khawarij and Fitna-al Hindustan groups since September 21. The military’s media wing confirmed these actions in a statement released on Wednesday.
Intelligence agencies had identified multiple militant hideouts in the Shaban area of Quetta, which posed a threat to local residents. To protect the population and clear the region of terrorists, security forces have been conducting clearance operations in Shaban since September 21, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Following intense firefights, 13 India-backed terrorists have been killed so far in this ongoing operation. Additionally, on September 22 and 23, pre-emptive intelligence-based operations were carried out in District Kech and Quetta West. These engagements resulted in the deaths of six terrorists and the seizure of weapons and ammunition.
During these operations, Subedar Muhammad Jamil, aged 39, sacrificed his life in the line of duty, embracing martyrdom, the ISPR confirmed.
Pakistan has witnessed a marked rise in terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the return of the Afghan Taliban to power.
