Teyana Taylor Shines at 2026 SAG Awards Alongside Daughter Rose Shumpert

At the 2026 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, singer and actress Teyana Taylor made a memorable appearance, accompanied by her young daughter Rose Shumpert. The mother-daughter duo instantly became the focus of attention as they graced the red carpet, with Taylor elegantly adjusting her intricate gown for photographers. This event marked a significant moment for Taylor, who is 35 years old and currently nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her compelling work in the film One Battle After Another.

The ceremony, hosted by Kristin Bell, introduced a fresh element this year by implementing a dress code inspired by the glamour of Hollywood’s 1920s and 1930s eras. This theme encouraged attendees to reimagine classic elegance with a modern twist. Embracing this concept, Taylor chose a breathtaking grey and white gown designed by Thom Browne. The dress was a masterpiece of craftsmanship, featuring an anatomical torso meticulously assembled from over 160 individual pattern pieces. Adding to its grandeur, the skirt was adorned with an astonishing 400,000 sequins and 175,000 beads, culminating in a delicate train that trailed behind her gracefully.

Complementing her stunning attire, Taylor accessorized with exquisite pieces from Tiffany & Co., including a Jean Schlumberger necklace, matching earrings, and rings. Notably, she also wore the distinctive Bird on a Rock ring, adding a touch of whimsy to her ensemble. A touching moment on the red carpet unfolded when Rose, dressed in a charming knee-length pink skirt paired with a blue and white cardigan, helped her mother arrange the train of her gown before they posed together for the cameras. This display of affection highlighted the strong bond between mother and daughter, captivating onlookers and photographers alike.

In addition to Rose, Taylor is a mother to another daughter, Iman “Junie” Shumpert Jr., who is 10 years old and shares her father, former NBA player Iman Shumpert, with Taylor. The actress has previously earned critical acclaim, having won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Golden Globes earlier this year for the same role in One Battle After Another. During her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, she playfully drew attention to the intricate detailing of her gown, inviting the audience to “see my party in the back,” referring to the elaborate design of her dress.

Looking ahead to the Oscars, where Taylor has received her first-ever nomination, she has taken a relaxed approach to the prospect of delivering an acceptance speech. She shared that she is deliberately avoiding rehearsing or overthinking her speech to maintain a sense of calm and enjoyment throughout the awards season. “I’m not thinking about my speech. I’m not even trying to go down that rabbit hole,” she explained. “I’m pacing myself. I don’t want to jinx anything. Honestly, I’m having just a good time. Having fun and staying grounded, that’s so important for me. You know what I’m saying?” This mindset reflects her focus on savoring the experience rather than succumbing to pressure.
