In Islamabad today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a significant high-level meeting focused on evaluating both the regional and domestic security challenges facing Pakistan. This gathering brought together top government officials and military leaders to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current security environment, highlighting the complexities and evolving threats in the region.

The discussions delved deeply into the geopolitical situation surrounding Pakistan, with particular emphasis on the broader regional dynamics that impact national security. The participants examined Pakistan’s strategic role in fostering peace and stability across neighboring countries, underscoring the country’s commitment to diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting cooperation.

A key topic of the meeting was the ongoing situation in Afghanistan, which remains a critical concern for Pakistan’s security apparatus. Detailed deliberations were held regarding the developments in Afghanistan, considering their potential repercussions on Pakistan’s borders and internal security. The Prime Minister and his team reviewed intelligence and security reports to better understand the challenges posed by the Afghan scenario.

Alongside regional matters, the meeting also focused on Pakistan’s internal security framework. Officials provided updates on the current law and order situation across the country, highlighting the measures implemented to maintain stability and prevent any threats to public safety. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of vigilance and coordination among security agencies to safeguard the nation’s peace.

In line with the Prime Minister’s directives, the session also addressed the urgent issue of evacuating Pakistani nationals stranded in Iran. The Foreign Office presented a thorough briefing on the ongoing efforts to facilitate the safe return of these citizens. It was revealed that evacuation operations are being coordinated through Azerbaijan, ensuring a secure and efficient repatriation process amid challenging circumstances.

The meeting was attended by a distinguished group of officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as well as Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohsin Naqvi, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, and Ali Pervaiz Malik. Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and other senior civil and military representatives were also present, reflecting the high priority given to the matters discussed.

This gathering underscores the government’s proactive approach in addressing both external and internal security challenges. By bringing together key stakeholders, the Prime Minister aims to ensure that Pakistan remains resilient and prepared in the face of evolving threats, while continuing to play a constructive role in regional peace efforts.
