Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari announced on Sunday that cancer patients in Multan will now have access to free treatment, following the recent establishment of a similar facility in Lahore. This expansion aims to provide comprehensive care to patients across all stages of cancer without prolonged waiting times.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated both the cancer treatment center in Lahore and the new Multan Cancer Centre. Bukhari emphasized that patients at the Multan center would receive treatment within 60 minutes, highlighting this as a significant advancement in the province’s healthcare services.
Additionally, the 1,000-bed Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore has been completed. Bukhari described it as a state-of-the-art healthcare institution that, alongside the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI), will enhance Pakistan’s reputation on the global stage.
On the political front, Bukhari stated that Maryam Nawaz is not in competition with any provincial government and criticized opponents for resorting to personal attacks due to their inability to match the Punjab chief minister’s achievements.
She further claimed that the incidents of May 9 and November 26 have become political burdens for PTI founder Imran Khan. Bukhari warned of preparations for a potential “third rebellion” scheduled for September 27. She urged parents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to protect their children from being involved in these political movements, alleging that while Imran Khan’s children reside in London, youth in KP are being exploited for his political aims.
