Balochistan CM Confirms Return of Pakistani Nationals from Conflict-Stricken Iran

QUETTA: In response to the escalating conflict in Iran, a significant number of Pakistani nationals residing there have begun their journey back home, announced Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti on Monday. The ongoing hostilities, marked by coordinated military strikes from the United States and Israel, have compelled many Pakistanis to seek safer grounds by crossing back into Pakistan through land routes.

Chief Minister Bugti highlighted the proactive measures taken by immigration officials stationed at the border check posts, who are now working tirelessly around the clock to facilitate the smooth and efficient return of these citizens. Recognizing the urgency and sensitivity of the situation, the provincial government has prioritized strengthening border transportation systems to ensure that the influx of returnees is managed in an orderly and organized manner.

To further streamline the process, the government has issued clear directives to the administrative authorities in the border districts, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts and timely assistance. Bugti assured that all necessary facilities, including medical aid, shelter, and logistical support, will be made readily available to those crossing back into Pakistan. This commitment aims to alleviate the hardships faced by the evacuees during their transit and upon arrival.

As of now, more than 70 Pakistani nationals have successfully returned from Iran, a figure that is expected to rise as the conflict intensifies. The situation in Iran has deteriorated sharply following the recent military operations, which reportedly resulted in the death of the country’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. These developments have triggered widespread instability, severely disrupting air travel across the region and impacting vital oil trade routes.

The strikes, part of a broader campaign known as Operation “Epic Fury,” have raised significant geopolitical tensions, drawing attention to the largest US military intervention in the Middle East in over twenty years. Despite the gravity of the situation, the previous US administration under Donald Trump has maintained a notably low profile, refraining from public commentary on the unfolding crisis. This silence has sparked debate over the strategic objectives and implications of the intervention.

Meanwhile, Pakistan remains vigilant, focusing on safeguarding its citizens and maintaining regional stability. The government’s swift response to the repatriation of its nationals underscores its commitment to protecting Pakistanis abroad during times of international turmoil.
