Pakistan Embassy and Consulates in UAE Suspend Services Amid Security Concerns

In a significant development affecting Pakistani nationals residing in the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi along with its consulates, including the Consulate General in Dubai, have temporarily suspended all consular services. This suspension will remain in effect until Tuesday, March 3, 2026, as authorities respond to the evolving regional security situation. The decision underscores the priority given to the safety and well-being of both the Pakistani community and embassy personnel stationed in the UAE.

The announcement came through an official circular issued on Sunday by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai. It highlighted that the move aligns with recommendations from the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, which recently advised government and private sector employees to adopt remote working arrangements. Additionally, the ministry cautioned against the presence of workers in open or public spaces, reflecting heightened security protocols in response to the current regional climate.

Meanwhile, the Embassy in Abu Dhabi emphasized that this temporary halt in consular operations is a precautionary measure taken to ensure the protection of all community members and staff. The embassy assured the public that consular services will resume promptly once the security environment stabilizes and it is deemed safe to operate normally. This proactive approach reflects the embassy’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens abroad during uncertain times.

In the interim, Pakistani nationals living or working in the UAE have been urged to closely monitor updates from local authorities and adhere strictly to any security advisories issued. Staying informed through official channels is crucial to navigating this period of restricted services. The embassy and consulates have also encouraged the community to remain patient and cooperative as they manage this temporary disruption.

This suspension of consular services comes at a time when regional tensions have prompted various governments to reassess their security measures. The UAE’s swift response in recommending remote work and limiting outdoor activities indicates a cautious stance aimed at preventing any potential threats. For Pakistanis in the UAE, this means a brief pause in accessing routine consular support such as passport renewals, visa processing, and other citizen services.

As the situation develops, the embassy is expected to provide timely updates regarding the resumption of services. Until then, the Pakistani community is advised to exercise vigilance and follow all guidelines issued by both Pakistani diplomatic missions and UAE authorities to ensure their safety and security.
