In Karachi’s Defence Phase 8, a tragic accident occurred when a speeding car collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to her husband and 10-year-old son. The deceased has been identified as Miraj Bibi, while her husband Umair and their son Aun sustained injuries.

The police confirmed that the high speed of the car was the cause of the accident. Authorities apprehended the driver and seized the vehicle, which was taken to Sahil police station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, near the Liaquatabad Underpass, a motorcyclist suffered injuries after a kite string struck his throat. Rescue teams promptly transported the injured man to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident in Defence Phase 2, an unidentified gunman opened fire, wounding a man named Faraz. He was rushed to Jinnah Hospital, and police have initiated an inquiry into the shooting.

Additionally, a young man was fatally shot during a robbery attempt at Liaquatabad No 10. The victim, employed at an LPG shop, was with a colleague when two armed men on a motorcycle entered the shop demanding his motorcycle. Upon resisting, the victim was shot in the head. The assailants fled with the motorcycle, mobile phone, and cash, leaving behind their own motorcycle, which police later confiscated.

Initial investigations suggest the shooting was linked to the robbery. The victim’s family staged a protest on the main road of Liaquatabad No 10, blocking traffic towards Gharibabad and demanding swift arrests of the suspects.

Police reported that the number of fatalities resulting from robbery-resistance incidents in Karachi has reached 52 this year, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the city.
