The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched a digital driving licence system to modernize the issuance and verification process for residents across the province. This new initiative allows citizens to access their driving licences digitally, removing the requirement to carry a physical copy at all times.
Through a dedicated mobile application, users can retrieve their digital driving licence by entering their CNIC number, receiving instant access to the document. Traffic police officers in Peshawar have been instructed to accept the digital licence displayed on mobile devices as a legitimate form of identification, ensuring no penalties will be imposed for presenting the digital version instead of the traditional hard copy.
Chief Traffic Officer Peshawar, Muhammad Zahid, highlighted that this advancement represents a significant move towards integrating technology within the traffic police framework. He emphasized that the digital system will simplify licence access for citizens and enhance the efficiency and convenience of traffic-related services.
Notably, the Digital Licence Management System was inaugurated three months ago by KP Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi. At the launch, Afridi announced that the entire process of issuing driving licences had been transitioned to a fully digital platform, marking a major step in the province’s efforts to modernize administrative procedures.
