Sindh Education Ministry Announces Official Holiday and Academic Calendar for 2026-27

The Sindh Education Ministry has officially sanctioned the summer and winter vacation schedule for all educational institutions across the province for the year 2026. The summer break is set to begin on June 1 and will continue until July 31, providing students and staff with a two-month respite during the hottest months. Following this, the winter holidays are scheduled from December 21 to December 31, offering a brief but essential pause in the academic calendar during the colder season.

This announcement was made during a recent meeting of the steering committee of the Sindh Education Ministry, which was presided over by the Education Minister, Sardar Ali Shah. The committee not only approved the holiday schedule but also gave the green light to the comprehensive academic calendar for the 2026-27 school year. This calendar meticulously outlines the start of the academic session, admission periods, examination timelines, and result declaration dates, aiming to bring clarity and structure to the academic year ahead.

the finalized schedule, the new academic year will officially commence on April 1, 2026. Prior to this, admissions for students entering grades 9 and below will be open throughout the month of March, from the 1st to the 31st. This window allows ample time for parents and students to complete the enrollment process smoothly before classes begin. The ministry has emphasized the importance of adhering to these dates to ensure a well-organized start to the school year.

Examination schedules have also been clearly defined. For students in grades 9 and 10, exams will be held from March 30 to April 15, 2026. The results for grade 10 students are slated to be announced on June 1, while grade 9 results will follow two weeks later, on June 15. This staggered approach to result announcements is designed to manage administrative workload and provide timely feedback to students and their families.

Admissions for grade 11, which will be conducted under the Central Admission Policy, are scheduled to open on June 1 and will remain open until the last week of July. Meanwhile, examinations for grades 11 and 12 will take place earlier in the year, from April 15 to April 30. The results for grade 12 students will be declared on June 15, with grade 11 results to be released on July 1, 2026. This sequence ensures that students moving on to higher education or professional streams receive their results in a timely manner to plan their next steps accordingly.

In an effort to reduce academic pressure on younger students, the ministry has decided that students from grades 1 to 3 will be promoted to the next grade without sitting for formal exams. This policy aims to encourage learning through continuous assessment and reduce exam-related stress at early stages. However, students in grades 4 to 8 will still be required to appear for examinations, which are scheduled between March 1 and March 15, 2026. This balanced approach seeks to maintain academic standards while fostering a supportive learning environment for younger learners.

Overall, the Sindh Education Ministry’s detailed planning and timely announcement of the holiday and academic calendar reflect a commitment to streamlining educational processes and providing clear guidelines to schools, students, and parents. These measures are expected to facilitate better academic management and help all stakeholders prepare effectively for the upcoming school year.
