Pakistani News Channels Hacked Amid Rising Tensions in Middle East Conflict

ISLAMABAD: In a disturbing development, several prominent news channels across Pakistan experienced cyber intrusions that disrupted their broadcasts. The hacked transmissions prominently featured messages endorsing Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, sparking widespread concern among media outlets and the public alike. This cyberattack did not remain confined to television alone; it extended to digital platforms where a coordinated pro-Mossad campaign was launched through Google Ads, targeting Pakistani news websites specifically.

The scale of this digital offensive was not limited to Pakistan. In fact, a total of 19 countries worldwide faced similar cyber disruptions and propaganda efforts, indicating a highly organized and expansive operation. Within Pakistan, media websites bore the brunt of these attacks, which aimed to manipulate public perception through unauthorized content and advertisements. The breach has raised alarms about the vulnerability of national media infrastructure to foreign cyber threats.

In response to these alarming incidents, Pakistani authorities have swiftly mobilized national cybersecurity and intelligence agencies to investigate the source and extent of the hacking. Efforts are underway to strengthen defenses and prevent further incursions, as the integrity of the country’s information channels remains paramount. Officials have emphasized the importance of safeguarding media independence and protecting citizens from misinformation campaigns.

This cyberattack coincides with a significant escalation in the Middle East, where the United States and Israel have reportedly launched a major military offensive against Iran. The Israeli defense minister confirmed the commencement of combat operations, which followed the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, along with several family members—a development that has sent shockwaves through the region. Iran has retaliated aggressively by firing ballistic missiles at key Israeli cities, marking a dangerous intensification of hostilities.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the initial wave of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel, signaling a fierce response to the attacks. Israeli military authorities have activated air raid sirens across multiple areas to alert civilians and prepare them for potential incoming missile threats. The situation remains highly volatile, with both sides bracing for further escalation.

Meanwhile, the United States President released a video statement declaring the launch of an extensive military campaign aimed at neutralizing what he described as the threat posed by the Iranian regime. This declaration underscores the gravity of the conflict and the potential for broader regional instability. The cyberattacks on Pakistani media outlets appear to be part of this wider geopolitical struggle, reflecting the complex interplay between information warfare and conventional military action.
