Punjab Launches Rs 500m Interest-Free Loan Scheme for Women Entrepreneurs

The Punjab government has sanctioned a Rs 500 million interest-free loan scheme aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and artisans across the province. This initiative seeks to provide financial assistance without the burden of interest, enabling women to expand their businesses and improve livelihoods. By targeting female-led enterprises, the program addresses gender disparities in access to capital and promotes economic inclusion.

In a significant development for women’s economic participation, this scheme is expected to stimulate entrepreneurship among women, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The availability of interest-free loans can reduce financial barriers and encourage innovation and self-reliance. Moreover, supporting artisans helps preserve traditional crafts while providing sustainable income sources.

Meanwhile, the scheme aligns with broader efforts to enhance women’s roles in the economy and contribute to poverty alleviation. By facilitating easier access to credit, the Punjab government aims to foster a more inclusive business environment. The program’s success could serve as a model for similar initiatives in other regions, promoting gender equality and economic growth simultaneously.
