    NEPRA Prohibits K-Electric from Load Shedding Due to Power Losses

    The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a directive preventing K-Electric from implementing load shedding measures attributed to power losses. This decision underscores the regulator’s commitment to protecting consumers from unjustified electricity outages and ensuring accountability within power distribution companies. Power losses, often a result of technical inefficiencies or theft, have long been a challenge in Pakistan’s energy sector, affecting supply reliability.

    In a significant development, NEPRA’s intervention aims to compel K-Electric to address underlying issues causing these losses rather than passing the burden onto consumers through load shedding. The move reflects broader efforts to improve the operational standards of utility providers and enhance overall energy management in the country.
