The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced seven alterations to the national Test squad ahead of the third and final Test against England, who have already secured the series victory.
Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Muhammad Awais Zafar, and Khurram Shahzad have been released from the squad as per the board’s official notification. These changes come ahead of the Test match set to commence in Birmingham on Tuesday.
In their place, five uncapped players along with two cricketers possessing prior Test experience have been included. Notably, batsmen Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal bring experience with eight and two Tests respectively.
Additionally, left-arm spin all-rounder Arafat Minhas, who has featured in three ODIs and four T20Is for Pakistan, has been added. The new squad also welcomes left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Imran Jnr, the 2025-26 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Player of the Tournament Saad Baig, right-arm pace all-rounder Mohammad Imran, and Razaullah.
These players will join the team ahead of the upcoming Test against England in Birmingham.
Meanwhile, changes have also been made to the backroom staff with Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul being released. They will be replaced by Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke respectively.
The updated Pakistan Test squad for the Birmingham Test is: Babar Azam (captain), Abdullah Fazal, Abdullah Shafique, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Imran, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (wicketkeeper), Razaullah, Saad Baig (wicketkeeper), Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shan Masood, and Ubaid Shah.
