Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain is focused on making a return to the national cricket team by improving his pace, fitness, and consistency through domestic cricket performances. The 26-year-old pacer revealed that his training sessions have been progressing well, with noticeable improvements in his bowling.
He highlighted the valuable support and guidance he has been receiving from coaches at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), who have been sharing their expertise to help him refine his skills. Hasnain emphasized that pace has always been a natural attribute for him, having bowled at high speeds since the beginning of his career.
One of his primary goals during the ongoing training camp is to enhance his bowling abilities while maintaining his speed, which currently ranges between 140 and 145 kilometers per hour. He acknowledged the difference between bowling in matches and practicing in nets but expressed strong determination to rejoin the Pakistan team at the earliest opportunity.
Hasnain has gained experience by bowling long spells in domestic cricket and participating in red-ball matches last year. He remains committed to sustaining his fitness levels and playing as much cricket as possible to achieve his ambition of representing Pakistan in all three formats.
He also mentioned that he regularly studies the bowling styles of former Pakistan greats Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar, admiring their aggressive pace and aiming to develop a similar approach in his own game.
Maintaining fitness is a key focus for Hasnain, as he understands that injuries and heavy workloads can negatively impact bowling speed. He is therefore prioritizing physical strength and injury prevention to keep his pace consistent.
Hasnain made his international debut for Pakistan in 2019 and has played 15 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 28 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) so far. His last appearances for Pakistan were in a T20I in December 2024 and an ODI in February 2025.
Meanwhile, the NCA in Lahore is hosting a bowlers’ development camp where young fast bowlers are receiving specialized training to enhance their technical skills and physical conditioning. Renowned coach Ashley Noffke, along with the NCA coaching team, is leading drills focused on grip, bowling action, line, and length.
Additionally, sports science expert Javed Mughal has conducted sessions on workload management to help fast bowlers maintain their performance and reduce injury risks during the camp.
