PM Addresses Non-Operational CT Angiography Unit at PIMS Hospital

The Prime Minister has drawn attention to the prolonged inactivity of the CT angiography unit at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). This diagnostic tool is crucial for detecting cardiovascular diseases, which remain a leading cause of mortality in Pakistan. The facility’s downtime has reportedly hindered timely diagnosis and treatment for many patients requiring advanced cardiac imaging.

In a significant development, the Prime Minister’s intervention signals a priority shift towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure at PIMS, one of the country’s premier medical institutions. Restoring the CT angiography service is expected to reduce patient referrals abroad and improve local access to critical cardiac diagnostics. This move aligns with broader governmental efforts to strengthen public health systems and reduce the burden of heart disease nationwide.

Meanwhile, healthcare professionals and patient advocacy groups have welcomed the Prime Minister’s notice, urging swift action to repair and operationalize the equipment. The restoration of this facility is anticipated to improve clinical outcomes by enabling early detection of heart conditions, thus saving lives. It also underscores the importance of maintaining medical technology to meet the growing demand for specialized healthcare services in Pakistan.
