Iran Condemns New US Sanctions as Violation of Sovereignty

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the latest sanctions imposed by the United States, describing them as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of other nations. Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei denounced the measures as a revival of ‘full-scale classic colonialism,’ highlighting Tehran’s view that Washington’s actions undermine international norms. This statement reflects ongoing tensions between the two countries amid escalating diplomatic and economic conflicts.

These sanctions come amid a broader context of strained US-Iran relations, which have included disputes over nuclear agreements and regional influence. Tehran’s response signals its rejection of what it perceives as unilateral pressure tactics aimed at curbing its political and economic autonomy. The rhetoric used by the Foreign Ministry spokesman underscores the deep mistrust and antagonism that continue to define interactions between the two governments.

In a significant development, Iran’s denunciation may further complicate efforts to engage in dialogue or negotiate terms related to sanctions relief or nuclear compliance. The accusation of colonialism evokes historical grievances and serves to rally domestic and international support against perceived external interference. Meanwhile, the international community watches closely as these tensions could impact regional stability and global diplomatic dynamics.
