Turkey Accuses Netanyahu of Genocide, Seeks Interpol Warrant Amid Flotilla Dispute

In a significant development, Turkey has formally accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of committing genocide. This accusation follows Israel’s military actions against activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, a convoy attempting to deliver aid to Gaza. Ankara has escalated the matter by seeking an Interpol warrant for Netanyahu, signaling a serious diplomatic confrontation between the two nations. The flotilla incident has long been a flashpoint in Israeli-Turkish relations, highlighting ongoing disputes over Gaza and regional security.

Meanwhile, tensions between Turkey and Israel have intensified as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Netanyahu exchanged sharp verbal attacks. Erdogan has been a vocal critic of Israeli policies in Gaza, often condemning military operations that result in civilian casualties. Netanyahu, on the other hand, has defended Israel’s right to self-defense against militant threats. This public spat underscores the deepening rift between Ankara and Jerusalem, complicating efforts for reconciliation in the region.

The request for an Interpol warrant marks an unprecedented move in international diplomacy, reflecting Turkey’s determination to hold Israeli leadership accountable on a global stage. Such legal actions could have far-reaching implications for Israel’s diplomatic relations and its international standing. The ongoing conflict over the Gaza blockade and humanitarian aid continues to fuel regional instability, with this latest episode further straining ties between two key Middle Eastern players.
